FUT, Follicular Unit Transplant, also known as the strip method, is still a very popular hair transplant technique that is used widely within the US and Europe. The FUT is especially preferred if a candidate’s hair loss is advanced and he still requires a high number of graft implantation.

The sole difference between the FUT and the FUE is in the extraction phase. In the FUT, a linear skin tissue is taken from the back of the head, instead of harvesting each hair follicle individually. Although the FUT leaves a linear scar at the back of the head, the recent closure technique called Trichophytic minimizes the scar line and makes it almost invisible.

One big advantage of the FUT is that the hair follicles are harvested with the skin so they preserve a bigger fat tissue. In return, the surrounding fat tissue delivers the energy required to the hair roots until the hair root finds the blood vessels to get anchored and receive nutrients from. As this process may take up to 4-5 days, the fat tissue can maintain that nurturing required, which in return increases the final growth yield.

Long-Hair FUT
You do not have to shave your hair if you choose to have an FUT. As we only need to take a strip of the skin, we can do it without the need of shaving the entire donor region. This option is particularly popular between patients who mostly have client facing jobs.
